A Guide to How to Deep Clean Your House

Keeping your home clean is a regular task, but every now and then, it’s important to go beyond surface cleaning and do a full deep clean. This process helps eliminate dirt, germs, and clutter from areas that don’t usually get much attention. Whether you’re preparing for a special event, moving in or out, or just feel like giving your home a reset, this guide will help you get started with whole-house cleaning.

Here are five simple steps to help you deep clean your home, with a special focus on often-overlooked tasks like carpet cleaning.

Start with Rearranging and Decluttering

Before you grab the mop or vacuum, the first step in house cleaning is rearranging and getting rid of items you no longer need. You can start by collecting papers, books, electronic items, and notebooks that you no longer use. Then, go to the closet and remove every piece you no longer need.

After this, please make your way to the kitchen, collect all the old utensils, expired pantry items, or kitchen tools you no longer use, and put them all in a bag to clear the kitchen.

Focus on Every Corner

Deep cleaning means getting into the corners and surfaces that everyday cleaning misses. Clean areas like door handles, light switches, inside drawers, dashboard, and under furniture.

Make sure to also clean ceiling fans and other places where dust hides as part of your whole house cleaning. Use microfiber cloths and non-toxic cleaners for effective results. A good deep clean can improve your home’s appearance.

Clean the Floors and Carpets

Cleaning floors and carpets is another step in deep cleaning your house. Dirt, dust, and allergies can settle deep within carpet fibers. Over time, this can lead to odors and even impact your indoor environment.

Wash the carpets, and let them dry fully before moving furniture back, because carpet cleaning is a key part of any full-home deep clean, especially if you have pets or kids. Don’t forget to wipe the floors well after a wash.

Focus on the Kitchen and Bathroom

These two areas need special attention during whole-house cleaning because they collect the most bacteria and germs. In the kitchen, clean out the fridge, wipe all the shelves, and arrange the items correctly. If you have a microwave or oven, make sure to clean it inside and out.

In the bathrooms, wipe the doors, handles, and holders. Disinfect the sink and toilet area, and scrub the tiles. Deep cleaning your kitchen and bathroom helps maintain hygiene and prevents the buildup of harmful bacteria.

Wash Fabrics and do Vacuum Cleaning

Washing fabrics like curtains, sofa covers, and bedsheets, and deep vacuuming carpets, rugs, and doormats will remove dust. It will be one of the last steps to deep-clean your house.

This will help in reducing allergens and improving the overall freshness of your home.

Final Touches

Finish your home deep cleaning process by giving some final touches like dusting, polishing mirrors and glass with a streak- free cleaner. Open the windows for some fresh air and use a light scented candle.

You can also place a vase of flowers, and small indoor plants at different corners to give your space a neater look.
